Pingree to Host In-Person Town Halls After Just One Month of Pressure from Blue Anchor Project
Just weeks after the Blue Anchor Project launched its campaign demanding greater accountability and face-to-face engagement from Maine’s elected officials, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree has announced she will hold a series of in-person town halls across Maine’s First Congressional District.
This marks a significant win for the newly launched political action group, which has spent the last month holding public events, rallying constituents, and urging Maine’s congressional delegation to stop hiding behind press releases and show up for the people.
“Let’s be clear: she wasn’t doing this before,” said Liam Kent, Chairman of the Blue Anchor Project. “We started showing up, asking tough questions, and demanding public access—and within a month, she’s responding. That’s not a coincidence. That’s the power of people organizing.”
The Blue Anchor Project’s call for in-person town halls has resonated statewide as frustration with political inaccessibility has grown. While Congressman Jared Golden continues to avoid live, unscripted public forums, Rep. Pingree’s decision is a direct result of increased pressure from her constituents.
“We appreciate that Rep. Pingree listened,” Kent added. “That’s what leadership should look like—and we’ll be there to ask questions, share concerns, and keep holding her, and every elected official, accountable.”
The group says this is only the beginning. They plan to continue pushing for transparent, public engagement across Maine’s political landscape.
